Strength by Franklin Kirksey

Got Strength? Deuteronomy 33:25b reads, “As your days, so shall your strength be.” These words are part of Moses’ blessing on Asher. Genesis 30:13 reads, “Then Leah said, I am happy, for the daughters will call me blessed. So she called his name Asher. The name Asher literally means Happy. Genesis 49:20 reveals “Bread from Asher will be rich, And he shall yield royal dainties.” Moses’ blessing upon Asher reads, “And of Asher he said: ‘Asher is most blessed of sons; Let him be favored by his brothers, And let him dip his foot in oil. Your sandals shall be iron and bronze; As your days, so shall your strength be” (Deuteronomy 33:24-25). The oil refers to an abundance of olives and oil wells. Iron and bronze under foot speaks of mineral wealth. The capstone of the blessings upon Asher’s life is strength for every day. In His Sermon on the Mount Jesus said, “Sufficient for the day is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:34). “Day by day the manna fell; Oh, to learn this lesson well, ‘Day by day’ the promise reads: Daily strength for daily needs.” This strength is sufficient strength. Philippians 4:13 reads, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.” 2 Corinthians 12:9 reads, “And He said to me, ‘My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.’” This strength is supplied strength. 1 Peter 4:11 reads, “If anyone speaks, let him speak as the oracles of God. If anyone ministers, let him do it as with the ability which God supplies, that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong the glory and the dominion forever and ever. Amen.” Someone shares the following: “As the great hymn-writer carols in his wonderful words: - ‘Strong in the strength which God supplies, thro’ His eternal Son,’ we are reminded that God Himself is the source of all supplied strength.” This strength is supernatural strength. 2 Samuel 22:33 reads, “God is my strength and power, And He makes my way perfect.” Habakkuk 3:19 reads, “The Lord God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills.” Ephesians 6:10 reads, “Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” The way to tap into God’s strength is recorded in Isaiah 40:28-31, “Have you not known? Have you not heard? The everlasting God, the Lord, The Creator of the ends of the earth, Neither faints nor is weary. His understanding is unsearchable. He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; They shall mount up with wings like eagles, They shall run and not be weary, They shall walk and not faint.” Remember these things in your weaknesses.
