Heidelberg Catechism #1 1John 1

Heidelberg Catechism #1 Have you been wrestling with some hard and deep questions about your life? "How can I be happy?" "Who am I?" "Why am I here?" On Thursday I had a chat with my RAAF neighbor.  We talked about how to keep our heads in a world that is going mad.  How do you keep your head? We talked about knowing that God is the final authority. He is the final authority over the events that happen here on earth. Nothing is outside His Sovereign will. Nothing is outside His Purposes for our lives. And that was the point that resonated with my neighbor. And finding purpose in our lives is related to finding the ultimate purpose of the Universe. This is a big picture item that brings permanent stability and joy into a person's life even during confusing times of crisis. Did you know that the   Heidelberg Catechism , addresses some of these big picture items. The Heidelberg catechism was written in Heidelberg at the request of Elector Frederick III, r

Discipleship 4 Memorising Scripture

1 John 2:15,16,17 Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.16 For all that is in the world --- the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life --- is not of the Father but is of the world.17 And the world is passing away, and the lust of it; but he who does the will of God abides forever. 1 John 2:15,16,17   https://youtu.be/W6gk13w4QKQ   1. You Must Realise the Persuasion of the World 16 For all that is in the world --- the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life --- is not of the Father but is of the world. Satan was persuasive to Adam and Eve and ever since. And now much more after the Fall we have three enemies, the world the flesh and the devil The world fascinates then assassinates The world thrills then kills The world anticipates then captivates. The world calls then stalls The world delights then blights The world imitates then dissipates. The world has a Prince E

The End Times Wrap Up

Daniel 12:1-13  "The Time of the End"  The End Times; The end of days 1 "At that time Michael, the great prince who protects your people, will arise. There will be a time of distress such as has not happened from the beginning of nations until then. But at that time your people—everyone whose name is found written in the book—will be delivered. 2 Multitudes who sleep in the dust of the earth will awake: some to everlasting life, others to shame and everlasting contempt. 3 Those who are wise will shine like the brightness of the heavens, and those who lead many to righteousness, like the stars for ever and ever. 4 But you, Daniel, roll up and seal the words of the scroll until the time of the end. Many will go here and there to increase knowledge." 5 Then I, Daniel, looked, and there before me stood two others, one on this bank of the river and one on the opposite bank. 6 One of them said to the man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the river, "How l

The Battle at Little Big Horn

Daniel 8  The Big Little Horn 1 In the third year of King Belshazzar's reign, I, Daniel, had a vision, after the one that had already appeared to me. 2 In my vision I saw myself in the citadel of Susa in the province of Elam; in the vision I was beside the Ulai Canal. 3 I looked up, and there before me was a ram with two horns, standing beside the canal, and the horns were long. One of the horns was longer than the other but grew up later. 4 I watched the ram as it charged toward the west and the north and the south. No animal could stand against it, and none could rescue from its power. It did as it pleased and became great. 5 As I was thinking about this, suddenly a goat with a prominent horn between its eyes came from the west, crossing the whole earth without touching the ground. 6 It came toward the two-horned ram I had seen standing beside the canal and charged at it in great rage. 7 I saw it attack the ram furiously, striking the ram and shattering its two horns. The ram was
