1 Timothy 2:1-5 You Need A Mediator Heidelberg Catechism Lord's Day 5 and 6

1 Timothy 2:1-5    You Need A Mediator First of all, then, I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people,2 for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.3 This is good, and it is pleasing in the sight of God our Savior,4 who desires all people to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.5 For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,6 who gave himself as a ransom for all, which is the testimony given at the proper time.7 For this I was appointed a preacher and an apostle (I am telling the truth, I am not lying), a teacher of the Gentiles in faith and truth.   15 Q. What kind of mediator and deliverer  should we look for then? A. One who is truly human and truly righteous, yet more powerful than all creatures,  that is, one who is also true God. 16 Q. Why mu...

Ridley. The Battle of Fromelles

The Battle Of Fromelles JG Ridley 19th-20th July 1916 where the 5th Australian Division and the 61st British Division lost over 7000 troops in 12 hours of fighting. Before me in the silence I see that fateful day And hear the distant tumult far echoes from the fray; I see the battered trenches, They bayonets and the shells, And once again I'm fighting In the battle of Fromelles The whistle called to action A fighting force untried; And men from peaceful pastures Plunged in the blood red tide. Over the broken breastworks, Under a hail of shells, Into the jaws of fury, Charged the heroes of Fromelles Forward they went for honour, Forward they raced for right, Fighting their maiden battle All through the angry night. Man after man went under; Food for the hungry shells, Falling to further freedom, On the field of far Fromelles. The sun rise in the morning Greeted a ghostly sight; Thousands of mangled bodies Bathed in the tender light. This with t...

1 Thessalonians 5:1-11  The Second Coming Of Christ, the Day of the Lord.

The Certain Prophecy Not all preachers and teachers of prophecy are reliable. Oftentimes they're more interested in selling their own books than sticking with what the God's Word actually says. They proclaim themselves "experts" with sensational interpretations that have little basis in the Bible. They often set dates for Christ's return, label prominent figures "the Antichrist," or identify certain current events as fulfillments of often obscure prophecies in Scripture. Of course, such false teachers eventually reveal their true identity when their errors become apparent. So when it comes to future things, we need to proceed as if passing through an intersection with a flashing yellow light. We don't want to be broadsided by crazy drivers; nor do we want to put it in park because of fear of getting it all wrong. A prominent Presbyterian minister I knew told a group of pastors that he hadn't talked about the second coming in 45 ye...

The Second Coming The Day Of The Lord 1 Thessalonians 5:1-11 Outline

The Second Coming Of Christ, the Day of the Lord. Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you.2 For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night.3 While they are saying, "Peace and safety!" then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape.4 But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief;5 for you are all sons of light and sons of day. We are not of night nor of darkness;6 so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober.7 For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night.8 But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation.9 For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,1...

Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbor as thyself. Rom. 13:10. Love therefore is the fulfilment of the law. 5. Can you keep all this perfectly? No; for I am prone by nature to hate God and my neighbour.     1 John 1:8. If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.—Rom. 8:7. The mind of the flesh is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.—Titus 3:3. 6. Did God then create man so wicked and perverse? " There is none righteous, not even one ; 11 There is none who understands , There is none who seeks for God ; ...

1 THESSALONIANS 4:13-18 THE BEST DAY OF YOUR LIFE

13 But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.16 For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the  archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.17 Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord.18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.   THE EVIDENCE THAT AFFIRMS HIS SECOND COMING First of all, I want us to see the evidence—the evidence that affirms His coming. The evidence that affirms His coming is ...
